What we do.
The Youth Ministry of Dunamis exists for the formation of the teens and young adults God has placed in this house. Every Friday night, we gather for worship led by youth, teaching aimed at where young people actually live, and small-group time where the day's questions get the room they need. We are not running a youth group — we are pastoring a generation.
Our age range stretches from middle school through college — broad on purpose. We believe a fourteen-year-old should be discipled in the same room as a twenty-one-year-old, because the older one has answers the younger one is asking and the younger one has questions the older one has forgotten to ask. Across the year we add seasonal intensives — a summer week of equipping, a fall retreat, a spring missions trip — but Friday night is the heartbeat.
Our heart
Paul wrote to Timothy: "Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity." We take that seriously. Our students are not in training for ministry someday — they are in ministry now. They preach to one another, they pray for one another, they carry the prophetic word for one another. We are stewards of an awakening God is doing in this generation, and we have decided to keep up with Him.
The team includes adult mentors and youth peer-leaders working side by side. We rotate who teaches, who leads worship, who hosts the small groups — the leadership rotation IS the discipleship. There is no understudy program here; the students ARE the team.
If you are a teen or young adult in this house — or visiting and curious — show up Friday night at 7:00 PM. Bring a friend. Eat the pizza. Stay for the worship. We have been waiting for you.
